Farming systems and nutrient integration effect on soil nutrient dynamics and yield of maize

چکیده

Experiments were conducted to examine soil nutrient dynamics under different farming systems and sources on maize yield. It was a split plot fitted into RCBD with three replicates. Main plots included two cropping (CS) (maize groundnut fallow): sub-plots; residue (GNR), (MZR), Cow dung (CD), pig manure (PGM); four composts; (PGM+MZR, PGM+GNR, CD+GNR CD+MZR) each at 5 t/ha; NPK 120 kg/ha, (Co) control. Nutrient content of the measured fallow (GF) continuous system (CMCS), yield harvest. Data collected subjected analysis variance means separated by Duncan Multiple Range Test 5% probability level. The CS impacted dynamics, increased 31.25% N, 8.25% P 35.45% K from GF reduction 33.33% N 19.35% but increase 3.98% in CMCS. Composted waste (GFCW) gave an efficient better performance relative use PGM+GR improved grain (5.6 t/ha) than others Cos (GC0 MC0) 149.6% 171.9% 20. residual implies GPGM +GR had highest N% (0.84%) which 381.8% 466.7% higher Cos. chemical properties CMCS enhanced response organic amendments. implied GPGM+GR Hence, is recommended for production.

Slurry injection to optimize nutrient use efficiency in maize: Soil nitrogen dynamics and plant nutrient status

Slurry injection below maize seeds is a rather new application technique developed to improve the nitrogen use efficiency of liquid organic manure. To enable the characterization of the spatial and temporal soil mineral nitrogen (SMN) dynamics after slurry injection the present study aims to develop an appropriate soil sampling strategy. Three consecutive experiments were conducted. The first t...

Global Soil Nutrient Depletion and Yield Reduction

Nutrient depletion in soils adversely affects soil quality and reduces crop yield and consequently poses a potential threat to global food security and agricultural sustainability. With an emphasis on human-induced nutrient depletion, this paper described the causality among soil nutrient depletion, soil quality, crop production, socio-economic variables, and environmental condition. Then, glob...
